Top Gun Formally Announces Support for the IBM z15-8562 (T02) Mainframe

November 3, 2022 (Prior Lake, MN): Top Gun is pleased to announce it can now support the IBM z15-8562 (T02) mainframe and has become the first independent support company in the global marketplace to support this platform.

First announced on September 12, 2019, IBM positioned the z15 as, “The enterprise platform for mission critical hybrid multi-cloud, with new innovations across security, data privacy and resilience.” Further, Top Gun is on schedule to launch support for the IBM-8561 (T01) in Q2 of 2023.

At this time, Top Gun’s engineering team is thoroughly reviewing a complete 8561 system, on the floor of its R&D Facility in Prior Lake.

“With a continued investment in R&D systems and L3-led engineering, Top Gun again furthers its innovative technical edge within the multi-OEM independent support marketplace,” said Brian Kjera, EVP, Product Management, for the company. “Combining IBM z15 (8562) maintenance support with our mainframe software products consultation or our z/OS software support can further supplement your IT efficiency objectives. Top Gun supports IBM z15-8562 environments long past OEM EOSL announcements and for as long as you choose, while optimizing your OpEx and CapEx budgets,” added Kjera.

“Top Gun’s support for IBM mainframes is digitally enabled by its OverWatchSM framework that uniquely combines engineering, workflow automation (based on ServiceNow®) and preventative call-home services that are essential to Fortune 1000 clients requiring mission critical support,” explained Craig Wilson, EVP, Engineering. “The engineering team and I are quite proud of this accomplishment, but also by being the first independent support company to provide full support for the IBM z15-8562.”

“We’re delighted to announce support for this important IBM mainframe (Business Class) platform,” offered Jamie Owens, President. “Top Gun is also a global leader in buying/selling pre-owned and refurbished (certified and banded) IBM Z hardware – whole systems, upgrades and parts. The purchase of any IBM Z systems from Top Gun will include ‘bundled’ maintenance support agreements, including customizable SLAs,” stated Owens.
