What is the difference between AS400 and iSeries?

The AS/400 and iSeries are legacy hardware servers that were developed by IBM, while IBM i is the operating system that runs on modern IBM Power Systems.

The AS/400 was the original hardware platform that was introduced in 1988, and the iSeries was the successor that was released in the early 2000s.

However, despite the introduction of new hardware platforms and the evolution of the IBM i operating system, many users still refer to the technology by its original names. To clarify, the AS/400 and iSeries are older hardware platforms, while IBM i is the current operating system that runs on modern IBM Power Systems.
